Vintage 1990's Handmade Hand Painted Hakata Porcelain Doll Peach Floral Kimono Black Lacquer Stand Original Case
This doll is from our huge collection of vintage dolls from around the world. It was a gift to our family from our dear friends who visited Japan in 1996.
She is absolutely gorgeous. Her kimono is so intricately hand painted. Beautiful floral and abstract pattern in peach, orange, white, green and red. Her obi sash is dark green. She is kneeling, holding tight to her kimono. Her face is so delicate and pure.
The hair is done in tiny blackish/gray strands. It is pulled up in a white "bow". The bow has two tiny porcelain "wings".
The original glass case is 15" x 13" x 11". It is made of black lacquer wood. The base and the backing to the case is a gold marbled pattern. The black wooden lacquer stand is 10" x 7 1/2" 1/2". It is all original.
She comes with the original wood stand, stamped with black and red chop marks.
The complete set is considered in great vintage condition.
This traditional Japanese clay doll is a Hakata doll. The stamp is quite clear "HD 5291".
Hakata dolls are made of 100% clay from the Mt Aburayama near Hakata where the name comes from.
The Hakata has the doll association seal because of the very fine details and it is a traditional authentic Japanese Hakata.
Clay Hakata dolls are popular in Japanese culture, growing in popularity as people recognize their uniqueness and artistry.
This creative hand made display doll is also a perfect heirloom display clay doll. We believe she is one of a kind.
