Vtg 1973 Paper Mache Large Clown Floating From 7 Balloons Tlaquepaque Mexico Lacquer Face Folk Art
We have several piece of fine paper mache art from Tlaquepaque, Mexico from 1973 listed in our Etsy Shop.
Measures:
Approx. 12" drop from the 7 balloons attached by different colored yarn The balloons are 11"wide 7 Total balloons: Burnt orange, red, light blue, dark blue, light green, slightly darker green and a yellow-orange shade Clown 16" tall x 11 1/2" wide On the bottom of his left foot is a blue and silver foil label: Hencho En Mexico Metal hook for hanging at the top of the balloons
The clown is just amazing.
The hand lacquered face is truly a work of art.
The expression on his face is so peaceful and charming.
His collar is made from soft white lace.
His outfit and shoes are beautifully detailed as he opens his arms to the world.
Handmade, hand painted.
The condition of the clown is good to fair.
There is damage to the green leg and the paint is chipped a bit on the blue leg and right shoe.
Please look carefully at the photos as there are several small to tiny areas that would need to be touched up.
Lovely, one of a kind piece purchased in Tlaquepaque, Mexico in 1973.
