We have many Japanese beautiful pieces from our dear friend back in the 1990's.
The original tags are in excellent condition as is the Noren. " CRAFTS IN LIVING NOREN"
This is a stunning piece. 100% Cotton. We tried to Google Translate the symbols but could not get a distinctive answer. It does appear to perhaps be meant for a children's room due to the spinning top on one of the two panels. We have had this piece folded with our other collection of Japanese pieces.
The fabric is amazing with wonderful texture.
Noren (暖簾) are traditional Japanese fabric dividers hung between rooms, on walls, in doorways, or in windows. They usually have one or more vertical slits cut from the bottom to nearly the top of the fabric, allowing for easier passage or viewing. Noren are rectangular and come in many different materials, sizes, colours, and patterns.
We believe this double panel may be one of a kind.
