Vtg Hand Embroidered Challah Cover Silver Star Of David Separate Sections For Small Challahs Flowers Design For Shabbat Table
This beautiful piece is from my husband's grandmother who brought this to America from Hungary many years ago.
The piece is 14" round.
It is white linen in the most unique construction. There is a single silver shimmery Star Of David in the center of the piece. The "center" challah is kept warm by a pull string that ties around the challah.
There are 13 sections that are each hand embroidered with gorgeous flowers. Each section is 6" to the center x 6" wide of the Star Of David. When the top piece is lifted, the linen has an eyelet pattern.
This piece is so unique and unusual. It has been a challenge to describe it.
I have not seen another challah cover like this one.
It is in excellent condition after all these years. We never used it.
Just a wonderful handmade, clever challah cover. Would make a stunning gift.
