This remarkable chair has been in our large vintage collection since the early 1970's.
Purchased directly from the Knoll Company by my Uncle the architect. These chairs, we believe, were special ordered for him due to the unusual arm rests and roller caster "feet" not found in any of our research.
So handsome and functional.
Originally manufactured from 1964-79. The chair was however was designed in 1960.
The steel and leather 'sling chair' or '657', as it is commonly referred to has a beige sling back thick, muslin/canvas base. The back brown cushion and seat cushion are removable. The brown leather armrests are not removeable.
Tubular steel legs connect to cast-aluminum arms and stretchers with exposed hardware, exemplifying Pollock's honest approach to design.
Stunning design, so mid century modern.
Much loved and to this day are so timeless.
