Vintage 1950's Scottish Drum Major Doll Carrying Ceremonial Mace 7" Full Costume Faux Bear Skin Hat
This doll is from our large collection of vintage dolls and bears.
So much detail to this doll. His kilt has a gold tone, small safety pin for closure. On his kilt is a beige sporran (Gaelic for "purse"). He wears a formal tartan scarf, white belt, blue velvet top, white long length gloves, hand knit tartan socks and carrying the ceremonial mace. The head of the mace is quite detailed as well in brass. Decked out with his "bear skin hat" and gold neck strap.
From an expert:
Even though he is a Scot, he was made in North Wales by ROGARK, in the 1950s. You can always recognize the sad face, and his hands are bent at the knuckles, with very straight fingers. ROGARK made dolls of many nations, including Dutch, Canadian and Fijian.
The costume is clearly handmade.
