We are the original owners and have several more Bill Evans sculptures for sale in our one of a kind vintage shop.
This sculpture is 25″ x 6″ x 7 1/2″
The wooden base is 1 1/4″ deep
The children are climbing the ladder with love and encouragement.
So much tremendous detail to this sculpture with the bodies of the children having explicate features.
Three boys and three girls all with slightly different characteristics. One girl is dangling from a 4" chain an actual bronze bell.
This piece is pure whimsical charm
.
This one of a kind bronze was purchased from the Coach House Gallery that was on Van Dyke Place in Indian Village, Detroit, Michigan in the early 1970’s. Nona Herzog owned the gallery.
She was very active and involved with local artists as well as the Scarab Club downtown. The local artists were many….Johanna Haas, Karen Carter, Mary Lark, Chars Herzog III to name a few. Her gallery also had artists from around the world come and display their art such as Vagh, Miele, and many more.
On the bottom of the piece on the green felt is The Coach House Gallery and the piece is #116.
Stunning detail.
Please see the photos, the last photo is the advertisement for Bill Evan's show at The Coach House Gallery in the Detroit Free Press Fri, Feb 17, 1984.
