Vintage Christmas Pyramid Carousel Original Erzgebirge Expertic Hergestellt IN DER DDR

Handmade, hand painted wooden pyramid.
Made in the German Democratic Republic. It was a state that existed from 1949 to 1990, when the eastern portion of Germany was part of the Eastern Bloc during the cold war. The capital was East Berlin.
16″ Tall with a 28″ circumference at the widest point.
There are four elaborately hand carved trees made out of wood.
Father Christmas aka Santa Claus is towing a sleigh full of packages with a delicate "string" pulling the sled.
Nine, 1.5″ angels lead the procession behind Father Christmas:
Angel #1 carries a gold star Angel #2 carries a wooden basket filled with three “eggs” Angel #3 is holding a gold gift Angel #4 presents with “incense” Angel # 5 is singing from sheet music Angel #6 is playing the trumpet Angel #7 is playing the triangle Angel #8 is playing the French Horn Angel #9 is playing the trombone
There are 11 “paddles” 4″ long each embossed with a gold star. There is a separate piece that connects the middle portion of the carving two the "paddles" that holds the whole piece together and makes it spin. It is hand carved with the 11 tiny holes for the paddles to be inserted. The "paddles" and the three brass candle holders are removable.
The middle carved section is also removable and spins on a metal pin.
Each angel is hand painted with tremendous detail and gold wings.
Different hair and facial expression on each angel adds to this incredible, one of a kind piece.
This piece is exquisite and mesmerizing.
It is an amazing keepsake for the family to cherish and love year after year.
