Paperback with 2-staple binding published by Potpourri Press, 1975. Includes a brief history of the development of American cuisine beginning in 1607 through the writing of the book. There are chapters with main courses, side dishes, seafood, breads, sweets and libations, and conversion tables. Recipes include Potato soup and vichyssoise, New England Boiled Dinner, Giblet gravy, Oysters Rockefeller, Homemade Country Sausage with Fried Apples, Maryland Steamed Crabs, Popovers, Sally Lunn, New Orleans Flaming Bananas, Pecan Pie, and Hot Buttered Rum. The author was born in London, England where she studied at the Cordon Bleu School of Cookery. After arriving in the United States, she established her own cooking school in Greensboro, NC. She has appeared on numerous television programs and has given lectures and cooking demonstrations around the country. She is the author of more that eighty (at the time of publication of this book) specialty cookbooks sold here and abroad. She moved to New York and has written poetry and began her first novel.
