Vtg 1980's Handmade Ceramic Bird House Studio Art Fine Pottery Unique Bird House With Roof Signed By Artist

This fine studio art bird house with glazed green roof, ceramic pottery piece, is from our large collection of vintage items.

This one of a kind handmade ceramic pottery was purchased from the Coach House Gallery that was on Van Dyke Place in Indian Village, Detroit, Michigan in the early 1970’s. Nona Herzog owned the gallery.

Nona was very active and involved with local artists as well as the Scarab Club downtown. The local artists were many….Chris Anthony, Johanna Haas, NAHLER, Bill Evans, Karen Carter, Mary Lark, Chars Herzog III to name a few. Her gallery also had artists from around the world come and display their art such as Vagh, Miele, and many more.

So unique in its construction and how it was glazed.

This bird house is just amazing. The unglazed ceramic pottery base has the stamped marks of the artist and where it was designed. The base piece has adorable embossed "windows" on either side.

The ribbed ceramic pottery lid/roof is glazed in a sea foam green on the top. The rest of the lid/roof is unglazed. It lifts up through the wire hanger to fill the bird house with seed. The wire is curled at the top and is attached to the base with metal washers. The drop is approx. 10".

It is one of a kind and is just spectacular.

This is an exquisite piece done in such an eclectic style. It has never been used. We have had it on display for all these years. Truly a piece of clever and practical art.
