The match box and white dove are Not included.
We have a few of Mary Lark's fine studio art pottery pieces in our collection. Mary Lark, as in the famous "Lark" restaurant owned by Jim & Mary Lark was in West Bloomfield , Michigan. Her pottery was often shown at the Coach House Gallery. Her work is just amazing.
She attained a degree in art (her specialty was ceramics) from Detroit’s Marygrove College, and she also took art classes at the Detroit Society of Arts and Crafts (now the College for Creative Studies) and Wayne State University.
With each piece sold was Mary's unique maker's mark of a dove on a lovely round piece of white ceramic ornament with a hole for hanging. It was used as her price tag. Just precious. Later the maker's mark of the dove was presented on the mini liquor hand thrown mini brown glazed early on at the Lark restaurant. We have two of these mini ceramic pieces. The inside is glazed. The outside is not. Please see the photos.
I remember going to the Lark when it first opened. Many years ago my parents were friends with the Mr. & Mrs. Lark. These two ceramic liquor glasses were a gift to take home.
Perfect piece of history from this most fabulous, iconic restaurant that closed in December 2015.
