Vtg Handmade Studio Art Fine Pottery Serving Dish Glazed Brown Beige Signed By Artist NAHLER Barbara Nahler
We have many NAHLER fine studio art pottery pieces in our collection. Barbara Nahler was a well known Detroit designer. Her artwork was often shown at the Coach House Gallery.
This piece matches several other NAHLER pieces that are listed in our Etsy Shop.
Unbelievable, stunning piece of art work. The shape is amazing along with the beautiful design of an abstract flower/leaf. It is actually "cut" out by the artist to show depth.
Weighs 3lbs. 8ozs.
This one of a kind handmade ceramic pottery was purchased from the Coach House Gallery that was on Van Dyke Place in Indian Village, Detroit, Michigan in the early 1970’s. Nona Herzog owned the gallery.
Nona was very active and involved with local artists as well as the Scarab Club downtown. The local artists were many….Johanna Haas, NAHLER, Bill Evans, Karen Carter, Mary Lark, Chars Herzog III to name a few. Her gallery also had artists from around the world come and display their art such as Vagh, Miele, and many more.
It is one of a kind and is just spectacular.
So unique in it's construction and how it was glazed. The 12" serving dish/tray is beautifully glazed in deep browns and beige. The ceramic on the outside is heavily glazed in a browns to light brown glaze. Glazed inside and outside. On the sides of the serving tray there is an embellishment of three waves to finish the outside of the piece. The very bottom is not glazed.
The artist signed the base of the piece in large letters: NAHLER.
This is an exquisite piece done in such an eclectic style. Perfect for serving fruit, or just about anything you can think of. Lovely as a piece of art just for display.
