Vtg MCM Copper Toilet Float Metal Hot Air Balloon Brutalist Dangling Sculpture Large Lava Bomb Segment One Of A Kind
This one of a kind sculpture is from our large vintage collection of art.
An amazing piece. Unique construction. There are two pieces of copper that are embedded in the lava bomb. The anchor and the return piece that manages the dangle of the hot air balloon (copper toilet float). The copper pieces are removable. The copper on the "gondola" has a bit of a patina on it.
Approx. 22" tall x 17" tall. The anchor is 3 1/2" x 3".
Please note that the flag on the very top of the balloon has been reattached.
The overall condition of the piece is great. Certainly a wonderful addition to anyone's collection.
No signature found on sculpture.
This one of a kind copper and lava sculpture was purchased from the Coach House Gallery that was on Van Dyke Place in Indian Village, Detroit, Michigan in the early 1970’s.
Nona Herzog owned the gallery and lived in the house on Van Dyke.
She was very active and involved with local artists as well as the Scarab Club downtown. The local artists were many….Johanna Haas, Karen Carter, Mary Lark, Chars Herzog III to name a few. Her gallery also had artists from around the world come and display their art such as Vagh, Miele, and many more.
